Inertius Ltd was formed to
commercialise Professor Animesh Jha and Dr Yang's work in the area of
oxide passivation layers on metallic alloys.
The company is developing the technology to meet the challenges of
C02 emissions generated by the metal extraction industries whilst
delivering lower costs of operation and manufacture.

Educated at Scarborough Boys Grammar School and Sheffield University
where he obtained a degree in Zoology and a postgraduate diploma in
Metallurgy Richard spent his first period of employment at AWE Aldermaston
in the plutonium production facility manufacturing the fissile components
for the first Trident submarine. Following this he moved to the aerospace
and special materials division of Sheffield Forgemasters spending
the last five years as Managing Director of the facility after it
was bought by ATI Allvac, an Allegheny Technologies Company, based
in Charlotte USA.
During that period the company was transformed into
one of the more successful operations in Sheffield employing approx
300 people in 2006 and with sales of over £90m. ATI Allvac is
a major supplier of specialty metals into the aerospace, power generation,
oil and gas, medical and defence sectors. It has implemented a prolonged
capital investment, and product and employee development program throughout
that period. Richard recently left ATI Allvac to pursue an alternative
career.
He is former President of the Sheffield Chamber of Commerce,
and currently the strategic sector champion for the advanced engineering and materials
industry for the local RDA – Yorkshire Forward, and has some
board involvement with a number of new start up companies in the high
technology materials, engineering and environmental sectors. Richard is married with 4 children and after a long playing career
now coaches junior rugby at club and county level.
Richard was awarded an MBE in the 2010 New Years Honours for his services to manufacturing industry.

CTO – Professor
Animesh Jha - animesh.jha@inertius.com
Professor Jha gained his Bachelor of Engineering from the University
of Roorkee, Roorkee (now I I T Roorkee), India in 1979. He then
gained his Master of Engineering at the Indian Institute of Science,
Bangalore, India in 1981and then his Doctor of Philosophy at Imperial
College, London in 1984.
His main areas of research fall into two main areas:
Photonics including Photonic materials, fibre and planar light waveguide
devices, Spectroscopy of rare-earth and transition metal ions,
and Raman Spectroscopy of glass and ceramic materials;
And metal winning processes including Minerals and mineralogy, Extraction
principles of metals and oxide from minerals, and Environmental
aspects of materials processing.
His key areas of expertise are:

Manufacturing
and Process Technologies
Engineering, Material Sciences
and Technologies.
He has authored and contributed to over 75 academic
papers.

Technical Manager - Greg Doughty - greg.doughty@inertius.com
Greg has worked extensively with molten salts, having been Senior Engineer with British Titanium and Principal Investigator for NASA's Ilmenox project. He has had a number of other R&D positions in the UK and Canada and also worked in the cored wire and ferrotitanium industries.

John is a non-executive Director of Inertius Limited, having been
involved with the company since
its formation. He is employed by the University of Leeds, a major
shareholder in the Company and the research institution which developed
the intellectual property on which the Company’s products
John is
a Chartered Accountant and has acted as a director of a number of University
of Leeds spin out companies and also as Company Secretary for others.
He has an extensive commercial background and has been closely involved
in establishing and developing a number of fledge-ling companies.
